All I ever did for Dean Cornwell was to teach him to work in a given value range, and in all his work since he has never departed from this rule. He said that Brangwyn did the same thing.

About Me
I am a long-time art student, and avidly continue my art studies in this blog. However, I have a husband and three small children, so I don't have the free time to make art that I wish I did. This blog contains the stolen scribblings I've made in spare moments. Someday I'll improve!Tags

Sonic ponies with color
I did a sketch of the Sonic characters as ponies. Then I threw some color at it. It amuses me far more than it should.
Character color rough
Annnnnd … color rough! I just slapped on some color masses and tossed it back to my client to see what she thinks. These colors will probably change drastically. Also, the girl has a braid and a robotic foot now. … Continue reading
In The Rain progress
Worked on this pic a bit more tonight. The big masses of light and dark are blocked in, so now it’s refine, refine, refine. I had my hubby pose for me in somewhat similar lighting. He’s such a good sport. … Continue reading
Dragon and girl color rough
The editor of that fantasy ezine got back to me about which sketch he preferred. So I colored roughed it. This looks like a pretty decent cover. I think I need to make the corners darker. This is the roughest … Continue reading
Pushing color around
I sat and pushed the color around this pic tonight. I’m happy with how it’s coming, but it still has a few issues. I like the light and especially the Chinese lanterns. They’re oddly fun to draw.
Painting resolution
I received James Gurney’s Color and Light book for Christmas. It’s WONDERFUL. I had to sit down and scribble this out, just to try some of the color and light techniques. Painting this was the artist’s version of eating fudge. … Continue reading
