    and it has amazing performacnes to carry the whole show! dakota, daniel and the other guy i cant remember his name. theyre all great! the whole show just had the feel of a tripple A movie, the sets the clothing desigsn all of it comes out togehter beautifully

    Deadwood meets The a Knick meets Silence of the Lambs. I loved this series! I couldn’t stop watching episode after episode. The sets... the wardrobe ...the story ...the acting… I loved everything about the series! I hope there is a season two!

    Would have liked it better but for the lack of women. I enjoy the period, sets, etc., but ya know what? There were actually women in turn of the century New York (I have it on good authority), and I'm pretty sure more than one of them spoke. There was one scene where two strong women discussed the case for a few minutes, but they had left New York, so maybe in this fictional world someone did turn all the women in turn of the century New York into passing shadows...but anyway, that was it---for the whooooooooole season. Come on.

    Worth watching. Choppy story editing at times, but never lost my interest. Especially enjoyed the last episode. Atmosphere of the time period, character study was fantastic. So much hinted at but not explored in the story lines. Each character could have had their own series. Layered

  • A worthy adaptation of a great novel

    I had mixed feelings about this one. On one hand I was glad thus riveting story was finally being brought to the screen. On the other I was worried that the production would totally whitewash the killer’s motive and society’s involvement with the crimes. My fears were allayed, this is a spectacular adaptation: The acting is great (Daniel Brühl is awesome), the set design including the way the murders are depicted are stunning and even thought I read the novel , the revaluations and plot twists still leave a jolt. Bravo!!!
