Sharks are most aggressive and most active in the dark, but the fact is, we know very little else about the nocturnal nature of these creatures. Now, armed with the latest in infrared thermography cameras and night vision technology, a team of divers travels around the world and descends into the sharks' dangerous after-dark hunting grounds. Their goal is to learn more about how Great Whites, Six-Gills, and Tiger Sharks behave after the sun goes down. Shark Week is back!

• i do have to agree!!

i LOVE all shark info, but like most who have posted.... i do have to say that it is not good to shed shark behavior in such a negetive way!! come on people! be more wise as to whatr u put out there instead of giving sharks a bad rap!
• This has made me scared of sharks

By i T U NE S

This show sends a bad message that all sharks do are attack. There is much more to sharks then death. This is making people more scared and less fascinated with these amazing creatures created by God.
• REALLY?

By sabreace

I used to love shark week. But now they have turned it into a bunch of low grade horror films for the most part. They mainly focus on topics relating to sharks killing humans. You are more likly to be struck by lightening than being involved in a shark attacks, the odds are ever greater for being in a lethal one. These are not mindless killing machines, they are great, beatiful, wonderful predators. Why not just name the episodes Jaws 5,6,7,8,9,10 and get it over with? I am a avid snorkeler and have scuba dived a bunch of times. I most have dived with some of the tamer sharks like nurses, not tigers or great whites. I have no scars and the only injury i sustained was to my pride, which now knows that it is not the top predator and that there are things more powerful and amazing than it. This is sad people. Maybe they should rename it shark attack week for all it does. It is just making people more scared of sharks. Jellies are more dangerous then most sharks. At least when you give the sharks the respect they diserve. I bet the statistics for shark deaths are going to go up this year. They have pulled off the perfect buchery of shark week. Way to go guys.........
• Congratulations for a TOTAL FAILURE Discovery Channel

By Erovis

I have to say, for a channel that is (in theory at least) devoted to education, producing a show like this is nothing short of grossly irresponsible; having read the other reviews of this year's Shark Week, I've found that I am not the only one who thinks this. Has anyone else noticed the cover picture of Shark Week this year? Take a look and compare it to those of previous years, back to 2006; what you'll find is that Discovery has steadily made the pictures more and more provocative and scary to attract larger, Jaws-seeking audiences to their show. Sharks are incredible, powerful and useful creatures that have been around for hundreds of millions of years, and they may well go extinct within the next century. The cause? Us. Idiotic shows like this do not help, and it's producers know that and obviously don't care. Jaws was a good movie; it was a thriller; it was meant to scare; so it Friday the 13th; GET OVER IT. You're actually more likely to die from mosquito bite than shark attack (EVEN IF YOU SWIM IN THE OCEAN EVERY DAY) (with sharks around). Oh and by the way, the show itself sucked; I really mean the acting was amazingly bad, terrible narration, writing, etc.... TOTAL FAILURE.
• If I wanted Shark Attack movies, I'd watch Jaws.

By Areah

I love Sharks, and I love Shark Week, for the most part - but this year's are just sensationalist garbage. I've studied the Jersey Shark attacks, and watching the reenactment is just painful; while the attacks are interesting in themselves, what's truly interesting about them is their effect on people and the media. If I wanted to watch a suspense movie about shark attacks...I'd watch Jaws. When is the Discovery Channel going to stop insulting our intelligence and get more Shark Week specials with scientific content? I'd hoped we'd gotten over demonizing sharks, but apparently not. Sheesh, the Mythbuster’s special was more educational than many of these. That’s pretty sad.
• Some issues

By cappizzle09

Im not sure whats up but I bought the whole season and I can only put one episode on my ipod, the rest are quicktime files so they arent the right format or something. I'm sure it's a great show but I'll never know for sure I guess haha
• Some better some worse but it's Still SHARK WEEK

By zimcrusher

This year has too many Re-enactments. One is fine, but 3 is too many. One show per year of Stories of Shark Attacks is cool. I like seeing the shows about sharks lives, and getting info, not watching joe and tom, having a good time, until...... Also, The last show "Sharks After Dark" should have the sound guy killed. It was a great show, but it was ruined by the music. Normally, the music is in the background, and the people speaking are louder and clear. In this show, the music is super loud, and the dialogue is almost undetectable. Lucky the music only covers up 1/3rd of the show. And yeah, this year is much more about shark attacks then shark lives.
• Sharks don't kill many people!

By awesomenosity_44

You're more likely to get struck by lightning or drown in the bathtub than get bit by a shark. Discovery Channel is promoting a false stereotype. Shark week needs to be more about how sharks actually are and less about killing people.
• Save Those Man Killing Sharks!

By DecayingAngel

I agree wholeheartedly with the posters here who notice the dichotomy between showing horrendous shark attacks on humans and then altering the programming with appeals to help save these marvelous creatures. It was as I suspected: money over anything else, even sharks' lives, as a previous poster wrote. I am giving Shark Week three stars because in between the carnage they did show research into how and when sharks hunt. This was extremely interesting. Also the comparison among the different types of sharks was very educational. It was amazing to learn about the high testosterone level, resulting in intense aggressiveness and territorialism of the bull shark, who has always been overshadowed by the Great White. But it was also encouraging to see people amongst lemon sharks and to realize they are not the horrid, mindless killers they are made out to be. "Blood In The Water" was decent because being from New Jersey, this is a part of our history. It also showed the misconceptions that people back in the early 1900s had about these creatures. But other than that, the week's goal seemed to be to instill fear into people about these marvelous animals. Same with Peter Benchley-he wrote "Jaws", later to be made into a movie, and then turned around and said he never intended to make people fear and hate sharks. Yeah, right. $$$$
