  • Poor narration

    By Avid Audio Listener

I really wanted to like this show, but the narration just takes away from the experience. For example, instead of saying "If gravity doesn't bind them, what does?" the narrator says "IIIfff graaavvviiitttyyy dooeesssnnnn''ttttt bbiinnddd ttthheeemmm, wwwhhhaaatttt dddoooeeesss?"

  • Really bad narration - do not take a chance, not worth it

Seriously thought something was wrong with my sound system for quite a few episodes. I don't know if the narrator is that bad or they slowed down his voice and tone to match the audio up with the length of the video. Think chipmunk sounding in reverse.. slowed down and lower tone. Asteroids they seem to have twonked the speed of the narrator playback to speed it up.. so it warbles a bit.. bizzare since production value is just as good as Season 1 except for the audio. It really needs to go back to the studio and be re-recorded. If they re-release with a different narrator (any narrator - even Pee Wee Herman) and a normal sounding audio track I "will" buy it again. But even so the content this season is just so-so, it seems to lack logical direction like the first season. The music score is just as good.. its the narration that drives you to distraction.. I can't even focus on the content and finally just had to stop watching the series.. I bought the whole series. But I can't finish it.. it - is - that - bad.. PLEASE re-record the narration with a different narrator, Mike Rowe has said he would have done it if he had been asked.. why they did not take the easy path and go back with him as the narrator bogles the mind. It's just totally unwatchable as it is. First time I've ever thought of asking iTunes or Apple for my money back. I took a chance after seeing a lot of people say the narration was bad across the web, but thought.. no way it could be that bad.. impossible. trust me.. it is worse than you can possibly imagine.. you almost have to listen to an episode to believe it.. if you must.. buy a single episode and listen before you buy the full season like I did.. it will be money saved.. and Apple generiously doesn't recharge you for the previous episodes if you upgrade to purchasing the entire season. Seriously, if you liked the first season - just pretend there was one season and that was all. This will spoil your memories of a good TV Show.
  • Narrator detracts from episode

    By DT Armstrong

Starting with the episode titled "Asteroids" Erik Dellums narrates. He tries to pattern his voice after Hal in "2001 a Space Odyssey", but it doesn't work. It is a terribly boring sound and I can't stand for anyone to say aaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssssssttttttttttttteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooooooooooooooooiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidddddddddddddd. I actually thought there was a problem with the sound. Please get rid of this guy - or at least have him speed things up.
  • Bad narration

    By Holly 27

Season 1 featured Mike Rowe narrating (Dirty Jobs, Ford commercials ect.), this new season features a much more dull and monotone voice that takes me back to my 1983 high school biology class watching films with a reel to reel projector that was sure to make everyone fall asleep. Aside from the bad voice narration, this first episode picks right up where last season ends. Stunning HD visual pictures and animations that are clear, bright, and colorful. Great information and insight, that is as current to today as can be. Excited to see what topics come up in rest of Season 2.
