Rockefeller, Vanderbilt, Carnegie, Astor, Ford and Morgan. Their names are part of history and synonymous with the American dream. These men transformed every industry they touched: oil, rail, steel, shipping, automobiles, and finance. Their efforts transformed a country. Rising from poverty, their paths crossed repeatedly as they elected presidents, set economic policies and influenced major events of their day - from the Civil War to The Great Depression. 12 million historical negatives, many made available for the first time by the Library of Congress, are brought to life to offer an unprecedented view of America's Industrial Age – and the men who built it.

I’ve rewatched this series half a dozen times now. Provides a simple and easy-to-understand storyline of how this country’s industries started.

I absolutely loved these episodes. This was truly what Capatalism and free market is about. Thank God for these few indivisuals to have brought America into the modern ages, and to the front of the most incredible country this world has ever seen. I recommend this series to all people.

  • Propaganda trash

    By Buttabumps

This is a fantasy that erases the real builders of America: Native Americans, Blacks, poor white workers, Asians, and Latinos. Shame on the History (😒) channel
  • Unreal

    By Joshua a Cohen RBC

Im a guy that loves homeland, breaking bad, sons of anarchy, etc. In other words, I am not a history buff - but I will say that by far and away this is my all time favorite series. I can watch it over and over. Unreal and a must watch for all Americans and entrepreneurs.
  • The Men Who Built America

By This game is really well made

This show is great. It really is very well done and it is a must see for any history buff of any age.
  • Simplistic approach to pump the drama

    By RoadTrixie

Watched the first episode with someone knowledgeable in economics and history. He warned that the drama simplified complex issues and described some events with inaccurate hyperbole–“The first time, the only time”. Although the intent to show the 19th century entrepreneurs in a positive light was admirable, we ended up not 100% trusting the content. And like many other people here, we find the repetition annoying enough that we did not continue to episode two.
