Tyrant, Season 1 English Subtitles

Excellent series! Can't wait for more!

I would have given it one star, but i must admit as an Arab we have huge lack of action shows with good quality... So i enjoyed watching this show because of its atmosphere.... But man, the story is so superficial and lacks intelligence. Whoever wrote it has zero knowledge about politics in general and especially in that part of the world. I will not spend much more time complaining about the show, however i will give some inside tips for the show creators or whoever decides to make another show about that part of the world. 1. The ruler may be a totallyterian or dictator... but that does not mean he's running the country alone. Yes he may use his power to oppress the people... But there is always his very close friends who grew up with him or went to war with him that are very close from him and he would trust them with his life. These kind of people m ay not necessarily be involved in politics or the business of running the country. But rather they are the owners of the country economy and utilities. This kind of people are the ones who the president listen to from time to time. They are the ones who their grown up kids clash with members of the ruling family over business disputes, they are the ones who sometimes view the president to owe them... They are why the president is a president and the president is why they are so wealthy and powerful. 2. The women role. Across arabia, women are stronger than women in the west ever been. Forget about tv propaganda and about how they want you to believe that women in arabia are opressed because they cover their heads the way westerners cover their heads when its cold or raining. A president is influenced by his wife. All members of the government are influenced by their wives. The women community is different from the men community. THis show could have had some very interesting story taking place in that side. The wife is often the one who chooses bride for her son... Often she'd find many options and then try to introduce her son to them like a fixed date until he finds the right one. A mother would usually choose from her friends and women she knows. So for such a show, there would be some action taking place at the president wife, the ministers and advisers wives, and the other wealthy people supporting the president. They marry into each others. This is how they become strong, ow they stand with each others and survive when it becomes really difficult. Also dont under estimate the wife and mother word. When a mother tells her son something he would listen to it. In Arabia there is respect for mother which was not shown in the show. They would kiss the head of their mother or hear hand eveery morning. When she says a word they would listen to her. But of course a mother in arabia especially a president mother who was a president wife would be very wise and of strong character. Another influence on the president decisions is his wife who would ask him not to do something like execute someone and he would be obliged to listen. The wife could make such request because one of her lady friends asked for her help. Of course because they are women friends and most likely they are related from the distance, they would help each others. 3. There is one very important point i would have loved to see or at leased gave it more details... The question that often pops up in this kind of presidency... Who is right and who is wrong. Who is doing the right thing for his country...Who is the murder. Reality is... The ruling body may have different perspective from what others might have. That perspective may be clouded by the quality of information fed to the ruling body. Maybe its intentional because this will benefit somene financially or politically. Or maybe its just misinterpretation. Also, down to the smaller level of those staff who follow orders... Are they killing armed terrorists that are spreading unlawfulness and giving criminals opertunity to become active? Or are they themselves the criminals killing freedom fighters who are fighting for their dignity and freedom?l diffeerent sides of the story, you cant always tell easily who is right and who is wrong. The final conclusion there is always a sacrifice,,, but how much would you sacrifice and what kind of life would you prefer to live? 4. There is a reason why the president has loyal people that follow him from general public to his own staff and personal security. Answer to how such a thing develops is simple..l they are all human beings with families... They all have needs and all are facing obstacles. So you wouoldnt have staff inside the president house that are afraid of him. In fact they would be very good to him and they love him very much. They would be loyal and they are reminding themselves far too often of why they are loyal. Because all the good theyre in is thanks to them. The health treatment for their sick mother of this maid, the student scholarship abroad for son of that car driver, the costs of the daughter wedding of the body guard, those rolexes for the office staff and so on. As for the people... Subsidised electrify, water, petrol, food,free education, free health care, housing projects... Sounds like utopia... But of course there is always someone asking for more. Always someone complaining... So you'll always have opposition, people wanting share in the government, share in the economy, or all of ur ruling powers. 5. The foreign government doesnt just ask if you want power and then take action. They often maintain excellent relationships with all different parties. Who to support and when depends on the interest and stake of their mega corporations that are interested in this country. Nothing to do at all with their government international strategy. If companies are successful in securing their business then reelection of their friends in the government is easy.

I only watched the series thinking that PERHAPS, the acting might get better, the story more engaging etc... And Finally, with 3-episodes left to what was to be a predictable ending, instead of throwing in a twist that could work, they just make up other characters and story lines, and throw them into the script to make the episodes stretch to the end, and When the end finally comes, they leave you on a cliff... Not even on a cliffhanger. You know EXACTLY What is going to happen if there ever is a season two... I found myself just fast-forwarding through the last episodes because it was so obvious what was happening in the scenes that they stretched out to the point of absolute boredom. I wont even go into how absolutely Fake and Phony not only the actors are but the concepts of a Hollywood envisioned middle-east situation. Among the worst TV shows in recent years.

Tyrant was compelling and suspense. This is my favorite show. Great acting! WOW I was very surprised. i hope there will be season 2.

Some unevenness in the writing at the beginning but each episode improves. Great series.

The accents are pretty funny. It was hard to take seriously because of this. I feel like I’m most assuredly watching “actors” instead of being engrossed in the story. I finished it though which is more than I can say for a lot of shows.

I lived in the Middle East for 5years and I was hooked the first episode! I could identify some of the locations and the story line was familiar! All I want to do is run home to watch this show on the days it comes on. I even have my friends wanting to watch it with me! This show is unpredictable and very interesting! Love it!

If you want an intelligent, well written show, Tyrant is it. Excellent acting and timely interesting subject matter. The actors playing Bassam and Jamal are excellent.

This is a great show. Dynamic. The wife is annoying though. She is an idiot. Completely unaware of the world around her. She keeps asking her husband why he isn't happy there. I mean duh do you watch the news?? Are you aware of what happens in the Middle East?? Hopefully, someone slaps her at least once in this show so some sense gets into her brain. Anyway, great show. It's very entertaining.
