One day, players discover they cannot log out, as the game creator is holding them captive unless they reach the 100th floor of the game's tower and defeat the final boss. However, if they die in the game, they die in real life. Their struggle for survival starts now...

  • Lost impact without the weight of death

Even so, seeing Gleam Eyes again was the best reveal I've seen in a while, albeit impractical. Symbolic fan service, if you will.
  • SAO

I love it to death but I liked when they were in the actual Sword Art Online game than in the fae world.
  • Still Enjoyable, But Lacks the Impact of the First Two Volumes

    By SNeIa

The first half of Sword Art Online's Fairy Dance arc sees Kirito traveling across and learning about the world of Alfheim Online, guided by a new ally, Leafa. While the arc builds upon the character of Suguha, Kazuto/Kirito's cousin/adopted sister, and I appreciate the Norse mythology themes of ALO, the action is scaled back noticeably compared to the intensity of some of the scenes in the Aincrad arc… though perhaps this will pick up again in the next volume. The music and animation are still great though. And I'll say it again; the G rating is inaccurate, insofar as the violence, a certain fan service scene, and the unwanted advances of the new antagonist, Sugou Noboyuki, upon Asuna go. The series is suited for teens and young adults, especially anyone who loves video games.
