In this Beginner's Yoga, Kino MacGregor introduces you to the practice of Ashtanga Yoga taught to her by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and R. Sharath Jois in Mysore, India. As a professional yoga teacher, the most frequent request Kino receives from her students is for a beginner's programme. These progressive segments will help you build a strong foundation of yoga as you learn the postures at the perfect pace. The Tutorial is designed to teach you the very basics of yoga. Some key postures have been broken down on a step-by-step basis to help you learn them properly. Practice 1 is designed to introduce you to the sun salutations that will help you develop strength and flexibility while introducing you to the fundamentals of the flow of breath. Practices 2 is designed as the second stage of development once you have thoroughly learned Practice 1 and are ready to progress to the next level. This segment moves at a slightly faster tempo and integrates new poses to help you develop your practice further. Practice 3 is designed for when you have mastered Routine 1 & 2 and have built some endurance. This flowing segment really connects movement, breath and gaze as you focus on the spiritual aspects of yoga and begin to experience the transformation of your mind, body and soul. Practice 4 is designed to build strength from the core. The core plays a very important role in the postures of yoga. Having a strong core also trains the mind to be steady and calm. Practice 5 is designed to teach you how to meditate and relax.

  • Check price carefully

    By ShainnaMC

This was purchased as a series but somehow ended up charging by episode which made the price double. This appears to be a bait and switch scam. I agreed to pay one price and ended up with something completely different on the bill. Apple needs to check this one!!
  • Like a real class!

    By Vanikor

This is a terrific and useable way to build up to a full class. I have a great studio near me, but I just wasn't ready to keep up. I love that it is in segments so you can just play one section until you get it down. She talks you through the sun salutation so you can really use this as a guide to your practice rather than waiting or fast forwarding--you learn the natural rhythm of the movements as they connect to breath and then build with the more advanced sections. I am so grateful I bought this (in segments--I didn't buy the intro--just the parts I wanted)
  • Not for us fat chicks

    By J0Kent

This class is for intermediate or advanced. If you cannot touch your toes or your head to your knees or do a solid push up this class is not for you. I purchased this class to learn how to do yoga from the start. She does show some adaptive poses in a separate video but rushes through them. When she teaches she speaks fast and doesn't show you the adaptations during the class so you are supposed to remember what she said in the earlier mentioned video. We stopped this class and went to YouTube and watched Rodney Yee his class was easier and more designed with the beginner in mind. I would not have given this class any stars but you had to put down a star to leave a comment. Don't waste your money.
  • Scam

    By Tkhenderson66

$3 for a 2 min intro that is nothing more than a welcome message??? The next episode is $3 and is 11 min long?? Ridiculous! Buyer beware.
  • Too much talking and too intimidating for beginners

    By Brain Master

The yoga is good, but the narrator talks rapidly and continuously throughout the sessions, even while instructing the viewer to be meditative. While suggestions are made verbally to adapt the poses for those whose foreheads do not touch their knees in a standing forward bend, the modified poses are not demonstrated, only the pose as performed by an advanced practitioner. Look for Rodney Yee's series on yoga for beginners. We bought both, and follow Yee's sessions regularly while this series goes unused.
