Viewer Reviews

  • Good, but

    By KC1974

The good: First time most 50’s - 90’s footage made it to HD. Interviews with many surviving astronauts, including Neil Armstrong. Covers most missions. Gemini IV in detail. The not so good: The music (although good) is overused. Many missions are completely overlooked. None of the people who made space flight possible are mentioned. It’s just mission control and astronauts. Forget the scientists and engineers. Wehrner Von Braun - not even mentioned. They made Scott Carpenter look like a bad astronaut. Something like a hybrid of this and Discovery’s Moon Machines would be the ideal documentaries.

  • Simply the best!

What a fantastic series. Each and every episode is fascinating. This is a reminder of what America was capable of. As our country endures it's present day problems, including the most corrupt political leadership of the past century, it is refreshing to look back and remember JFK, NASA, and the pride that was America- a people that could and would reach the stars!
  • We Choose to go to the moon...

    By Ryakkan

In 1961, with only twenty minutes of spaceflight experience, President John F. Kennedy sets an ambitious goal to land a man on the moon and return him safely to the earth within 9 years. It took many people all around the world to achieve that goal. On July 20, 1969, Astronaut Neil Armstrong uttered "That's one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind" and became the first human to set foot on another celestial body. This is that story. How we got into space, traveled to the moon and what came after.
  • Bit exspensive

    Bit expensieve but amazing
  • Not bad, not great

If you know nothing about NASA history, this series is an okay primer. It's the approved NASA version, racing you through the space race without a whole lot of detail or controversy or questions. Still, you'll get the basics, and there's a lot of nice footage, and it's a reminder of what America was like in the can-do glory days before we gave up on the whole idea of manned space exploration. If you like this version you may want to move on to documentaries and books that tell these stories in finer detail and more in context with the Soviet program, which gets almost no play here.
  • Shameless Competition - America At Its Best

    By K7KOJ

These are very well done and accurate documentaries. The subject matter is so interesting you won't want to stop watching it. The video is historic and amazing. The Redstone and Titan rockets are mezmerizing, but watching the Saturn Five launching the Apollo missions, is just mind boggling. And the courage of the pioneers who risked their lives to ride them. I started with the first two episodes and was so impressed I bought all but one. I will be getting that one soon. You won't be disappointed with this documentary series. Worth every penny to have in your library.
  • Excellent! The best space program show ever!

    By Walts Worker

This show has footage possibly never seen before. I remember growing up as a kid when the Apollo program was in full swing - for every Apollo launch the teacher would wheel the T.V. into the class and we would watch every moment of them! The music and everything is excellent! I highly recommend to anyone who likes almost anything about 'space.' There's nothing like hearing the Saturn V launch!
