When death is your business, what is your life? For the Fisher family, the world outside of their family-owned funeral home continues to be at least as challenging as—and far less predictable than—the one inside. From Oscar(R)-winning screenwriter Alan Ball (<i>American Beauty</i>) comes this drama series that takes a darkly comic look at a dysfunctional L.A. family that runs a funeral business. As prodigal elder son Nate Fisher returns home for the holidays to news of his father's death, the family must learn to deal with the death of one of their own—while figuring out how to go ahead with the business of living. What emerges throughout Season One is a quirky, funny, emotional, life-affirming look at the enlightenment of a grieving American family…that happens to be in the grief-management business. Peter Krause, Frances Conroy, Michael C. Hall, Lauren Ambrose and Rachel Griffiths star.

    Absolutely love this series
  • The deepest show ever.

This is seriously the best TV show. Period. I'm not a big TV show fan but I actually saw this one twice! You need to get through the first 3-4 episodes, I thought they were kind of slow but after that it's great. If you like action and complicated plots - don't watch it. Watch it if you like to think about life.
  • The best show in history of American TV

I think this show is simply the best. Not all seasons are equally good, but non the less it's brilliant as a whole.
  • Dry and uninteresting

I decided to give this show a try after reading the compliment heavy reviews everywhere I went. After watching the pilot, I can safely say that this show is one more highly overated piece of crap. The only reason I even gave the show two stars is because of the actors, who deserve a much more interesting show. I'm a big fan of Micheal C. Hall, and Dexter is probably my favorite show on television, but where Dexter is dark, it is also exciting. The characters are well designed and intriguing. With "six feet under", the characters may not be stereo-typical, but they are predictable none the less. Yes, this show has a meaning it is trying to get accross with death and life and so on, but the bottom line is, the show is just plain boring. I could barely sit through an entire episode, but I just kept watching hoping it would get better, it didn't. I want a show that grabs my attention, it doesn't have to be a fast-paced thriller ofcourse, it just has to be somewhat exciting even if that excitement is brought around mostly by dialouge. So the pros are- the actors, and the cons are- everything else.
  • WHAT TV SHOULD BE.

This has to be the best show to ever grace the screen. Never has life , love , and loss ever been showcased more perfectly. The dull subdued hue that its filmed in captures the entire feel throughout the begging...to what has to be the absolute BEST SERIES FINALE EVER. It never disappoints. You will laugh at the unexpected and cry at the comical. And actually...you may just walk away and understand life a lot more.
  • Incredibly moving show

    By JrBoy1

Six Feet Under is my all time favorite tv show. Nothing else compares. It's very dark but at the same time has a twisted sense of humor. It's brilliant and I hated to see it end.

I was an original fan when the show aired on HBO. Years later, I still tell people, weekly, that this is the BEST SHOW EVER MADE.
  • A series to die for...

I never caught this show while it was on but after hearing so much about Dexter's Michael C. Hall in Six Feet Under, I decided to check it out and in a matter of a few weeks, I'd watched the entire series. It's a great show with superb acting and story lines that keep you interested. One of the few shows on TV that actually cared about character development. One thing though, has anyone else noticed "Brenda" as the "What's really in a hot dog?" lady on that lousy commercial? Never cared much for her anyway...Buy the season, buy the series, you won't be disappointed.
