How to Use Subtitles for the ALF, Season 1 Videos

  1. Move the subtitle files into the same folder as your video files.

  2. Rename the subtitle files to exactly the same name as your video files. e.g. ALF, Season 1_Episode_1.mp4 and ALF, Season 1_.srt.

  3. Open the ALF, Season 1 video in VLC or your media player. The subtitles will automatically appear in the video. If it does not, check if the ALF, Season 1 srt files are correctly named, then close and restart your video player.



ALF stands for "alien life form," and it becomes the adopted moniker of Gordon Shumway, the last known survivor of the planet Melmac. Gordon crashes his spacecraft into the garage of the Tanner family's suburban home, and is subsequently adopted by them. They must keep him out of the hands of the authorities, however, which means no one can ever know about the alien who lives with the Tanners, giving rise to many hilarious adventures. In the first season, Alf's exploits include finding employment as a phone salesman for a cosmetics company, going on a date with a blind woman, buying the family a ferrarri after selling his spaceship for parts, and developing amnesia after a blow to the head.

    It’s a shame that they do not make good classic comedy TV shows like this one anymore. How about getting the movie project Alf. Then my volume set will be complete.

    Strangers in the Night (S01E02) is one of my favorite episodes. Had it on VHS as a kid after recording it one Monday(?) night. Anyway, the opening has been cut. ALF’s narration has been cut short. It excludes “meatloaf, for the third time that week.” After that, it both excludes ALF breaking “Missile Man” (a transformer type toy), as well as ALF saying “Obviously not with Missile Man” in a reply to Brian when he says they’ll have to play later. Come on. How the heck do you cut this out of an episode and still sell it?
