Best show ever it has actually convinced me to prep

This show is the most amazing show on the planet...well besides The Walking Dead of course😄

I, personally, really liked this show and would have bought the whole thing on iTunes, but it doesn't have the Pilot and I really wanted that episode too.

Informative series with some great ideas for emergencies, and even self-reliant money-saving living. Unfortunately, only 12 of the 13 shows are included. The pilot show is missing.

If it wasn't sensationalized, then it's not good TV, right? NatGeo had an opportunity to do a great service to its viewers by portraying the positive values of emergency preparedness - they just couldn't help themselves in trying to sensationalize a fringe element. Picture Hurricane Katrina or the Haiti quake in your town. Are you a victim or a survivor? This series does point out quite a few excellent tips to prepare for disaster, and I give them kudos for it - take mental notes, much of the information provided is excellent. Just keep in mind as you watch, the show's producers take artistic license and add their own opinionated spin with their editing and interviews. They don't just take the family, who prepares for a natural disaster and works on their survival skills wilderness camping - they take the guy who takes his kids into the desert to practice tactical shooting and has a misfire mishap. Nothing wrong with that - just they go for the sensationalization for ratings. I gave it 4 stars for the content, they lose a star for making preppers seem 'out there' (for heaven's sake, look at the episode cover photo with ma & pa in gas masks). Watch and learn, and decide what is right for you, to prepare your own family in the event of an emergency.

Actually, a really good series. Think of "How it Works" and convert that to people preparing for hard times. Although many of the people seem "Out there" or "far gone", they have lots of good ideas how others can be more self sustaining. Most people do not want to live their lifestyle. Most people also don't have the resources (money) to do what most of these people are doing. It's a good overall series, and I'm glad NG had made it. And it not All the Jerry Springer, George Nori, or NRA crowd, that are prepping. "Normal" people should prep for at least a month of self sustained living.
