<i>Elementary</i> follows eccentric Sherlock as he escapes to Manhattan where his wealthy father forces him to live with his worst nightmare – a sober companion, Dr. Watson. A successful surgeon until she lost a patient and her license three years ago, Watson views her current job as another opportunity to help people, as well as paying a penance. However, the restless Sherlock is nothing like her previous clients. He informs her that none of her expertise as an addiction specialist applies to him and he's devised his own post-rehab regimen – resuming his work as a police consultant in New York City. Watson has no choice but to accompany her irascible new charge on his jobs. But Sherlock finds her medical background helpful, and Watson realizes she has a knack for playing investigator. Sherlock's police contact, Capt. Tobias "Toby" Gregson, knows from previous experience working with Scotland Yard that Sherlock is brilliant at closing cases, and welcomes him as part of the team. With the mischievous Sherlock Holmes now running free in New York solving crime, it's simple deduction that he's going to need someone to keep him grounded, and it's elementary that it's a job for Watson.

Great Sherlock, Bad Watson

The BBC’s show Sherlock is far superior to this one. But this one is watchable too, because of great acting by Sherlock. The main thing dragging this show down is Watson. She is a pretentious, righteous, ungrateful jerk. It literally would take a great human, like Sherlock, to not respond to her constant provocations.

This Season appears in the iTunes Store, but when trying to purchase it says “Temporarily Unavailable, please try again later.” Trying the same in iOS Store, it says “This Item is No Longer Available”. What gives?

I came to this show late, after catching a few episodes this year. I was hooked! Truly suspenseful, interesting, without being overly dramatic like a lot of cop shows are these days. Character development is great. If anything, I like the original seasons even more than the current season.

Most Addicting Show of 2014

JLM is superb in his role as Sherlock in this show. Elementary has the perfect balance of crime, personal life and comedy. The pair is remarkable and unbeatable on tv. I have seen every single episode of Season 1 at least 4 times. No joke. I can now recite most of the lines of every episode. It is an addicting and enjoyable show. This gets my ABSOLUTE BEST RECVOMENDATION.

This is one of the very few shows I watch regularly. I just finished watching the first season. Compliments to CBS and to all involved in the production of this imaginative show. More often than not we are disappointed by renditions of songs that imitate the original. Taking an old song and giving it a fresh, original interpretation can work. It is no less applicable to this story line. It has a very fresh quality to it. The characters are well developed as are the story lines. Jolly well done. Smart to renew for season 3.

I was skeptical at first but now I am completely hooked. I was a little annoyed by all the sobriety and rehab stuff at first, but that eventually falls away. I hope this series stays around a long long time
