  • Terrible Descriptions

WATCH COSMOS with Neil deGrasse Tyson: This is a really long trailer for a really bad Sci-Fi movie. Lots of dramatic music and flashing images... no information. They insist on describing a Black Hole as a Monster that gorges and eats as if it was a monster never describing how black holes form and the nature of gravity. Never mentioning the speed of light 186,000 miles per sec is insufficient to allow even light to achieve an escape velocity. again for a learning experience ...WATCH COSMOS with Neil deGrasse Tyson:
  • Quota for Cosmology shows?

    By upset_folder

Stop personifying cosmological objects. Black holes don’t eat, ok? Stars and galaxies are not engaging in celestial or cosmic dancing. Jupiter is not a bouncer or a bodyguard hired to protect Earth and the rest of the gang. Synopsis of show: “Hey kids, forget that fundamental force stuff. Gravity? Not important, just watch this 'ravenous' black hole ‘devour’ and ‘gorge’ on that tasty and delicious star.” Honestly, why was this made? Is there a quota or a mandate for cosmology shows? No effort went into this. No passion, no thought for science, it’s just another vessel for computer graphics meant to be enough to satisfy us. Science Channel, once great, is now a wasted opportunity. Alien encounters, UFOs, conspiracies, monsters, and assembly line/fabrication shows now dominate. And as it’s owned by that cesspool named Discover Networks, don’t expect anything other than a dozen new shows involving Alaska.

I found every aspect of this series entertaining and educational, I wish the season was longer!!! I recommend this to everybody.
  • Maybe 5-year-olds will like it

The title "Strip the Cosmos" implies that the series will attempt to describe astronomical phenomena piece-by-piece from the outside in. It isn't. It's super pumping music, camera editing, reused graphics and hyped up drama. If you know anything about the astronomy topics you will not learn anything. If you don't, you might actually become more confused with all the flashing lights, pumping music and overly dramatic narration. I recommend "The Universe" for actual information.
  • Great show!

Better to learn how long it takes a photon to get from the center of the Sun to your eye than know the names of Bruce Jenner's daughters. Fight stupidity.
