How to Use Subtitles for the Hinterland, Season 1 Videos

  1. Move the subtitle files into the same folder as your video files.

  2. Rename the subtitle files to exactly the same name as your video files. e.g. Hinterland, Season 1_Episode_1.mp4 and Hinterland, Season 1_.srt.

    Not a shoot em' up, cut em' up, blow em' up show. Well written with deep human insights. Serious life issues. Not a comedy, slap-stick, Charlie Chaplin entertainment show. Serious drama with real-life depictions of human emotions and the human condition. Not a pop corn cop show. The viewer needs a degree of psychological and emotional intelligence.

    Just finished the first episode and found it to be excellent in every respect. I look forward to seeing how the character backstories develop as the series goes along. Well worth the money and time spent watching. This is one I will watch several times because there was so much care and detail that went into the production.

    The acting in “Hinterlands” is very good considering what they had to work with. And the scenery is absolutely beautiful. When you compare this show with other BBC police procedurals, it finishes dead last. It’s awful, seriously awful. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

    I have enjoyed many detective series from BBC and Sweden but though it has interesting plots, I found the show bleak. The characters showed no personality or emotion. You could not decide what they were like or who they were as people. The communication between the detectives was almost nonexistent. I believe that smiling was considered off limits and being yourself was forbidden. Now maybe this is how people are in Wales, I don’t know, but if I found them to be very cold, distant characters in this show.

    Always looking for a good English detective drama as the British do it best. This one didn't disappoint but must warn it is very dark and rather depressing. Tom the main character is one very sad and depressed character, don't think I saw him once crack a smile. Excellent stories told by excellent actors and definitely keep you guessing. Scenery is rather bleak and dreary and cold. Someone else said the like that it is more than an hour long but I did think it was a little drawn out. I would purchase again and watch if they make S2
