As Season 6 unfolds, Lorelai and Rory face their first-ever serious incident of estrangement from each other. Lorelai did everything she could to change Rory's self-destructive path, including asking her parents for help. Feeling betrayed when they side with Rory, Lorelai pours her heart out to her boyfriend, Luke. When Luke instantly offers his support, a touched and emotionally fragile Lorelai impulsively asks Luke to marry her. Rory has also drifted away from her best friend, Lane Kim (Keiko Agena), who spent the summer touring with her band. Now, Rory and Lane vow to renew their friendship. Plus, Rory's intense former classmate Paris Geller (Liza Weil) is as upset as Lorelai when she learns that Rory has left Yale. Surprisingly, Rory's wealthy and self-indulgent boyfriend, Logan (Matt Czuchry, The Good Wife, who becomes a series regular this season), is also concerned about Rory's decision to leave school and is convinced that she's making a mistake. Will Rory change her mind?

Viewer Reviews

• A little bit different, but still worth it

By Cutebluejay

I have to admit that I hated this season when it first aired on television...or at least the first eight episodes, and if you have seen them, then you know what I mean. Now that the series has ended, it can be recognized as an important shift in the storyline, despite being an unhappy one at times. Following a dramatic police arrest, a community service sentence, a somewhat toxic relationship with a privileged rich boy, and almost six months of barely seeing or speaking to her mother, Rory's bond with Lorelai takes its first major hits--or, to put it another way, it is humanized in a way that the show hadn't explored yet. Oh, and did I mention that she dropped out of college for an indefinite period of time, moved into her grandparents' pool house, had sex with her boyfriend under their roof, and pranced around like a spoiled, misguided rich kid? Well, well, well, I guess perfect little Rory really did take a fall, didn't she? Despite being heartbreaking at times, and the fact that it unleashes a less attractive side of Rory, watching mother and daughter work through the crisis teaches worthwhile lessons about how a mother continues to support her child and somehow come out on the other side of it. Their relationship was never quite the same after all this, which is to be expected, but in the end, it was handled delicately and with a realistic touch. Of course, there's plenty of drama to look for elsewhere in this season. Lorelai defies tradition by proposing to her longtime beau Luke, which is fine until he discovers a 12-year-old daughter that he never knew about. Many have argued that introducing the little girl was a major mistake on several counts, but if you remain patient and wait it out, it really is beautiful to see how fathering a daughter changes Luke's life and enhances his character even more. Be on the lookout also for a few cameos from Milo Ventimiglia and Madeleine Albright.
• I love this show

I'm so glad they put gilmore girls on iTunes. I own all the seasons and now I can watch it on the go.
• Most real

By Laura2252

This is my favorite season because it gives real development to the characters instead of their "perfect" mother-daughter relationship. They work through an issue that would seem rather common in that situation and come through it together and better. And, yes, "I Get A Sidekick Out Of You" is my favorite episode!
• This is not the Best season. :(

By GarrisonFam

Gilmore Girls has been my second life for the past 2 years and I have enjoyed every bit of every episode. The cast is perfect and I wouldn't want them to change a single thing. You fall in love with every character and can't help but wish there was a place like Stars Hollow. I am sad it ended but happy that they have it on iTunes. Press you if you love Gilmore Girls!
• Lane's wedding = only worthwhile episdoe

By NerdPhD

THANK YOU, iTunes, for finally getting this show on your site! Season 6 as a whole is horrible, but Episode 19 ("I Get a Sidekick Out of You," aka Lane's wedding) is great. Finally, I can watch it without buying the whole season!
• SIck.....

By Scatterbrain911

after getting her confidence slashed, the stupid little Rory spends her time being Emily's dream daughter and little sex-kitten for Logan. Lor is miserable to not have her daughter.....but thanks to Jess, Rory snaps out of her self-pity, breaks up with Logan and goes back to school. Luke finds out he has a daughter- love the twist but he handles it stupidly!!!!! Paris is in-charge of the Yale Daily News- which is horribly entertaining, but Rory fixes that. Emily is still very funny in her snobby way- as is the whole crazy town. The series ends with Rory saying a tearful goodbye to her flighty Logan- who did love her in his way. Lor is found in the bed of the recently decent Christopher.......talk about cliff hanger!!
