Viewer Reviews

  • SOLID

    By Senor Cluba

I consider this show to be one of the most truthful and funny shows on the air right now. It's not 22 minutes of gags every week. Some of the best episodes have few laugh out loud moments but there are episodes where I laughed all the way through. It's sometimes a challenging show because it touches on real topics. I'm not expecting the madcap hijinx of Louie and the Gang every week but I get a great show every week. It's just really, really solid. Also, FX ought to make season 3 available as they air. I (like many of my friends) am ditching cable but would pay to see a season of a show I like as it airs.
  • Top Visual Storytelling of our time

    By LoudestNinja

Louis C. K. is an artist I trust. After watching Seasons 1 and 2 of his show I realized I was in the hands of someone who was dedicated to telling stories that are sometimes fantastic, sometimes mundane, but always realistic. I laugh, I cringe, I have realizations, I feel. Every episode makes me FEEL in unexpected ways, and in ways that are rarely - if ever - inspired by television or film. He's taking visual storytelling to new depths. 'All this from a comedian,' you may ask? All this from a keen observer of life - a person willing to look at himself and at others, with a compassionate, critical, ironic gaze. He achieves this sensibility of a realistic fantasy by casting perfectly, by working with his actors (and non-actors) in ways that bring out subtle, recognizable human emotions, and by leading that "realness" himself by being a self-aware, self-deprecating, NON-self-aggrandizing character. Speaking of characters - I think New York City is Louie's co-star. Never have I seen a show capture NYC with the candid truth-lens that Louie seems to film through. No artificial sets or cheesy NY moments. Just real places, real people, real situations... even when those situations are fictional, they still touch more truth-chords than I thought possible. I look forward to re-watching Louie (which I never do with tv series'), to seeing his next Season, and to seeing this show inspire others to create in similarly realistic, unpretentious ways. So grateful.
  • Been there..done that type of show.

I was told how great this show is,not so much.
  • WOW!

    By dub thinking

Probably the best show on television, hands down! This show is on the same level as "Arrested Development" and "The Chapel Show" while being totaly unique and equally groundbreaking. This really is entertaiment at its highest level. The episode about the Troops was the single best "anything" that has shown the human side of this war, whatever your politcal views....
  • great stand-up, occasionally good show otherwise

    By mmccrack1

Loius CK is really a gifted stand-up comedian, and the best part about this show is the clips of him performing well- honed bits --some of his very best material out there is apparently reserved for this show, in small clips. The show itself, aside from these clips, is occasionally very funny, amusing, clever, or otherwise interesting, but it is just as often not any of these things as it is any one of them. Perhaps that's the best you can hope for with something serial. If you really want a good deal, rather than spending $20 for a season of his shows, go to his website and download an entire performance of him plying his true craft for only $5 Live at the beacon theatre, which is available there, is one of his better performances.
  • You must watch the Duckling episode

    By jhmmusic

I really like this series but the Duckling episode about Afghanistan was amazing!
  • Why would anyone watch this regularly?

    By Mafenspop

Simply put, this show is a major homosexually-oriented dud. On several instances words were censored with beeps, but then at the end of this episode Louie expresses his desire to have oral-anal sex with his homosexual neighbors. I should have read the reviews more thoroughly and may have seen this coming because this was a waste of my time and money. This show stinks!!
  • Awful

    By TeaBee02446

I liked Louis C.K. from his standup and his time on Parks and Rec. However , this show if awful. I didn't laugh or even chuckle once. I am going to ask for a refund. Don't waste your money too.
  • Totally Brilliant

Honestly, I hadn't really heard of this guy until recently, when I heard him interviewed on NPR. Sounded more interesting than the average bear. Been downloading all his stuff. It's not just funny, but super smart, and quite moving. The dude is not only a good actor, but he sees deeply into human relationships -- like Larry David, if Larry David were a psychology grad student.
